Who we are

Stand Between is the trading name of a sole trader based in England. For this website and the enquiries it brings in, Stand Between is the data controller. You can contact us about this policy or your data at info@standbetween.co.uk.

What we collect

The contact form on this website does not send or store anything itself. When you press send, it opens your own email app with your message ready to go, and we receive it as a normal email. The information we hold is whatever you include, typically:

  • Your name, email address, and phone number if you give it
  • Your company and role, if you mention them
  • Details of your stand enquiry: the show, dates, stand size, budget and requirements
  • Anything else you choose to write

We do not ask for payment details or sensitive personal information, and please don't send us any.

How we use it, and why we are allowed to

We use your information to:

  • Reply to your enquiry
  • Find exhibition stand builders who fit your brief
  • Introduce you to those builders by passing on your enquiry, so they can contact you directly
  • Keep records of enquiries and introductions, including the records we need for our accounts and tax

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you have asked us to help you find a builder, and we need to use your details to do that. We keep accounting records because the law requires it. We will tell you which builders we are introducing you to before, or when, we share your details. Once a builder has your details, they are responsible for how they use them under their own privacy policy.

Stand Between is paid a commission by the builder if you go on to hire them. You never pay us anything. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of service providers who handle data on our behalf:

  • Email: our mailbox is hosted by IONOS, so enquiry emails are stored on their servers.
  • Website hosting: this site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, its servers briefly log technical details of each visit, such as your IP address and browser, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
  • YouTube: only if you choose to play a video (see below).

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is covered by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK-US data bridge or the UK's standard contract terms.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't lead to an introduction: up to 24 months after we last hear from you, so we can pick up where we left off if you come back for a later show.
  • Enquiries that lead to a builder being hired: six years after the end of the tax year in which we are paid, because we need them for our accounts.

You can ask us to delete your details sooner, unless we are required to keep them by law.

Cookies and videos

This website does not set any cookies and does not use analytics or advertising tracking. Our fonts are stored on our own site, so loading a page does not contact Google Fonts.

Some Stand Inspiration articles include YouTube videos. These are switched off until you press play. Before that, only the preview image is shown, which is loaded from YouTube's servers, so your IP address is sent to Google to display it. When you press play, the video loads from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode. From that point YouTube may store cookies or similar data on your device and collect information about how you watch, under Google's privacy policy. If you would rather not, don't press play. Every video also has a link to watch it on YouTube instead.

If we ever add cookies that need your consent, such as analytics, we will ask you first and update this policy.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy
  • Ask us to correct anything that's wrong
  • Ask us to delete your data
  • Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
  • Ask for your data in a format you can take elsewhere

To do any of these, email info@standbetween.co.uk. We will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when the way we handle data changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
