About BIOFACH
Since 1990 BIOFACH has been the central international meeting point for the organic food trade. It is held every February at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre and organised by NürnbergMesse, under the patronage of IFOAM Organics International, with the German organic food federation BÖLW as national supporting organisation.
Exhibitors cover the full organic value chain: fresh and chilled produce, dry goods, beverages, ingredients and processed foods, with some non-food and natural products as well. National and regional pavilions are a strong feature, and each edition highlights a Country of the Year.
BIOFACH is strictly a trade event. Visitors come from specialist organic and natural food retail, conventional retail, wholesale, import and export, food service, manufacturing and agriculture, and must prove their trade status to register. Private visitors are not admitted.
Exhibitors take part to find importers, distributors and retail listings, and to meet buyers from many countries in a single week. Alongside the exhibition, the BIOFACH Congress runs a large programme on markets, regulation, agriculture and nutrition, while start-up activities and the Best New Product Award give newer brands a route to attention. VIVANESS, the trade fair for natural and organic personal care, runs alongside it.
Producers who can explain certification, origin and supply reliability clearly tend to get the most out of the show, since buyers come to discuss volumes and long-term supply as much as to taste.

BIOFACH 2027: what to expect
BIOFACH 2027 runs from 16 to 19 February at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre, open 9:00 to 18:00 from Tuesday to Thursday and closing at 17:00 on the Friday. The congress theme for this edition is Resilient Food Systems. Resilient Future.
The organiser reported around 2,200 exhibitors from nearly 90 countries and almost 32,000 trade visitors at the 2026 show, with half of visitors travelling from abroad. In its closing report it also said more than two-thirds of the space for 2027 had already been booked, with many requests for larger stands.
Sampling is central at BIOFACH, so stands need to plan for food handling, refrigeration and waste within NürnbergMesse's rules. Exhibitors within a national pavilion should check early which design and branding rules the pavilion organiser applies.
