About IAA Mobility
IAA Mobility is an international platform for the future of transport, organised by the VDA, the German Association of the Automotive Industry. It has been held in Munich since 2021, when it replaced the long-running motor show format in Frankfurt with an event focused on mobility as a whole rather than cars alone.
Its format is unusual. Professional content is concentrated at the Messe München fairgrounds in the IAA Summit, where manufacturers, suppliers, technology companies and start-ups meet business visitors, alongside the IAA Conference with its speaker programme. In the city centre, the IAA Open Space brings brand presentations into public squares, and the IAA Experience lets visitors try new forms of mobility for themselves.
Exhibitors include vehicle manufacturers, automotive suppliers, software and technology companies, battery and charging providers, bicycle and micromobility brands, and start-ups. Themes run across electrification, automated driving, connectivity and sustainable mobility.
The audience is correspondingly broad: industry professionals, investors, policy makers and media at the Summit, and a large public audience in the city. For exhibitors, that gives two distinct routes to value. The Summit is where supply chain partnerships, investment discussions and technical exchanges happen, while the city centre locations offer consumer visibility in one of Europe's most important automotive markets. A dedicated press day ahead of the opening helps launches gain media attention.

IAA Mobility 2027: what to expect
IAA Mobility 2027 runs from 7 to 12 September in Munich, with a press day on 6 September. The IAA Summit takes place at the fairgrounds, while the IAA Open Space returns to the city centre, alongside the IAA Conference and IAA Experience.
The first decision for exhibitors is where to appear. A Summit stand at Messe München suits B2B audiences, while an Open Space presence in the city is aimed at the public and is subject to the rules of outdoor urban sites, including weather, permits and limited build windows. Brands taking part in both should plan two quite different structures and logistics schedules.
