About Ocean Business
Ocean Business is an international exhibition and training forum for ocean science and marine technology, organised by Diversified Communications UK and held every two years at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton. Its setting is unusual: rather than a conventional exhibition hall, the event takes place at a working oceanographic research centre.
The show serves a technical audience. Exhibitors typically include makers of oceanographic instruments, hydrographic and survey systems, sonar, subsea sensors, uncrewed and autonomous vehicles, positioning equipment and data software, along with service providers to the marine science and offshore sectors. Visitors are professionals such as marine scientists, hydrographers, survey specialists, offshore engineers, defence users and government agencies, who expect detail and often want to see equipment working before they commit.
Hands-on demonstration is central to the format. The organiser runs more than 180 hours of demonstrations dockside, in test tanks, on vessels and in classrooms, so visitors can see instruments deployed rather than simply on a stand. The previous edition drew more than 10,500 attendees from 65 countries, according to the organiser.
That research setting shapes how exhibitors approach the event. Buyers in this field judge equipment on performance data and practical handling, so suppliers benefit from showing instruments up close, explaining how they are deployed and meeting the people who will operate them, not only those who approve budgets.

Ocean Business 2027: what to expect
Ocean Business 2027 is scheduled for 6 to 8 April 2027 at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton. Because the event is biennial, this is the first opportunity in two years to exhibit, so it is worth confirming space and technical requirements with the organiser in good time.
Access routes, delivery times, floor space and storage at a working research centre differ from a standard exhibition hall. Plan how larger items such as autonomous vehicles or survey equipment will be moved, displayed and stored, and link any agreed demonstration slot to the stand design so interested visitors can be directed from one to the other. Display instruments so they can be examined closely, and use screens for survey data or sonar imagery.
