About ORGATEC
ORGATEC is Koelnmesse's international trade fair for modern working environments, held every two years in Cologne with the Interior Business Association as conceptual sponsor. It covers the full scope of how offices and workplaces are planned, furnished and equipped.
Product areas include office and contract furniture, seating and desking, furnishings for offices and institutions, interior fittings and smart office solutions, acoustic elements and floor coverings, media and conference technology, IT, and planning and consultancy services. Ergonomics, flexibility and sustainability run through much of what is presented.
The audience is professional. Visitors include architects, interior designers, workplace planners, designers, office and furniture retailers, and facility managers, along with decision makers and procurement managers from human resources, construction and corporate real estate. Many attend to see how manufacturers are responding to changing patterns of work.
Because the fair is biennial, manufacturers often time major collection launches for Cologne, and specifiers come expecting to see what will shape offices in the years that follow. Alongside the exhibition, the Wherever Whenever Work Culture Festival adds talks, discussion and experience-led formats that link the hall segments together.
For exhibitors, ORGATEC offers an international audience of specifiers and buyers in one place, and a stage on which a stand can demonstrate a workplace concept rather than simply display products. Koelnmesse also runs related events in other markets, including an ORGATEC WORKSPACE event in Saudi Arabia.

ORGATEC 2028: what to expect
ORGATEC returns to Koelnmesse from 10 to 13 October 2028, an edition the organiser is marking as the fair's 75th anniversary. Halls, features and the content programme have not been detailed yet. The 2026 edition gives a sense of scale: Koelnmesse reported 550 exhibitors from 39 countries, 78 per cent of them from outside Germany, and more than 40,000 trade visitors from 116 countries, 56 per cent of whom came from abroad.
With two years between editions, many manufacturers save new collections for Cologne, so stand concepts tend to be ambitious and experienced builders get booked early. Treat the stand as a working environment: acoustics, lighting, power for workstations and room for visitors to sit and try furniture all deserve attention at the design stage. Koelnmesse schedules and technical rules are strictly enforced, so begin conversations with your builder well ahead.
