About automatica
For companies working in robotics and industrial automation, automatica in Munich is a key international meeting point. Organised by Messe München at its trade fair centre in the east of the city, it describes itself as the leading exhibition for smart automation and robotics, offering what the organiser calls the world's largest portfolio of solutions in the field.
The exhibition is structured around assembly and handling technology, industrial robotics, service robotics, machine vision, and software and cloud computing. Exhibitors range from the major robot manufacturers to specialists in grippers, sensors, drive technology, vision systems and control software, as well as integrators who combine these into complete production solutions.
Visitors are trade professionals: engineers, production and automation managers and decision makers from automotive, electronics, food, pharmaceuticals, logistics and general manufacturing. Many attend with specific automation projects in mind, which means conversations on the stand can move quickly from demonstration to specification.
Recent editions have focused on themes such as digitalisation and artificial intelligence, sustainable production and the future of work, reflecting pressure on manufacturers to raise productivity while dealing with skills shortages. A supporting programme of talks and live demonstrations runs alongside the stands. For exhibitors, the attraction is an internationally minded audience that comes expressly to evaluate automation technology, together with the chance to be seen next to the leading names in the industry.

automatica 2027: what to expect
automatica 2027 takes place from 22 to 25 June at Messe München. Messe München described the 2025 edition as the most visited automatica to date.
Three other events run at the trade fair centre on the same dates: LASER World of PHOTONICS, the munich_i high-tech platform and World of Quantum. That overlap brings optics, photonics and AI specialists onto the same site, which can be useful for exhibitors whose systems combine robotics with vision or laser processing.
Robot cells and live demonstrations are standard here, so exhibitors should plan guarding, power and compressed air early and check the Messe München technical guidelines. Accommodation in Munich fills up quickly when several large shows run at once.
