About January Furniture Show
Known across the trade simply as JFS, the January Furniture Show opens the UK furniture calendar each year at the NEC in Birmingham. Organised by The Furniture Shows, part of Clarion Events, it presents itself as the UK's largest trade event for furniture design, manufacturing and retail.
The show is arranged into four curated halls: premium design; home, garden and lifestyle; living, dining and cabinets; and upholstery and beds. That structure attracts a broad range of exhibitors, from long-established British manufacturers to importers and newer design-led labels, and it helps buyers move efficiently between the categories they care about.
Visitors are trade buyers from independent furniture retailers, department stores, online sellers and contract and interior design businesses. The event is aimed at the retail trade, so the conversations on a stand are with people who place orders.
Timing is the main draw. Retailers arrive in late January ready to plan ranges for the months ahead, which makes JFS a natural place to launch collections and secure early orders. Because so many established names exhibit, buyers also use the show to benchmark suppliers against each other, and a well-presented stand can catch the attention of retailers who might otherwise head straight for familiar brands. Furniture needs room to be experienced: room sets that show pieces styled together help retailers picture them on their own shop floors, and a quiet seating area gives space to talk about pricing and minimum orders.

January Furniture Show 2027: what to expect
The 2027 show, the event's 37th year, runs from 24 to 27 January across four halls at the NEC Birmingham. Doors open at 9:00, closing at 17:30 from Sunday to Tuesday and at 16:00 on the Wednesday.
The show opens on a Sunday, so build-up runs through the preceding days and any delivery or contractor bookings need to account for weekend working. Heavy and bulky items make delivery slots and handling equipment particularly important, so agree them early with your builder. Check which hall your category sits in, as the hall structure determines your neighbours and the buyers walking past. Lighting in large halls can flatten textures and colours, so budget for stand lighting that shows upholstery and finishes properly.
