About MWC Barcelona
Organised by the GSMA, the global association representing mobile operators and the wider mobile ecosystem, MWC Barcelona is the world's largest connectivity event and one of the busiest weeks in the technology calendar. It takes place each year at Fira Gran Via in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, on the edge of Barcelona.
The exhibitor base reaches well beyond mobile networks. Operators and infrastructure vendors share the halls with device makers, chip designers, cloud and AI companies, automotive and financial technology firms, and a large start-up community. A substantial share of attendees come from industries adjacent to telecoms, reflecting how connectivity now runs through most sectors.
Visitors include company leaders, engineers, investors, analysts, government delegations and media, and the event is firmly business focused. Ministerial programmes bring policymakers into contact with industry, while 4YFN, the event's start-up platform, connects young companies with investors and corporate partners. The GLOMO awards recognise innovation across the industry.
Many companies use the week to announce products and partnerships, knowing the technology press is in town. Much of the real business happens in scheduled meetings, so meeting rooms are often the most important part of a stand, and large exhibitors build what are effectively temporary offices with hospitality areas. For smaller companies, 4YFN and national pavilions provide more accessible routes onto the floor.

MWC Barcelona 2027: what to expect
MWC Barcelona 2027 runs from 1 to 4 March at Fira Gran Via, under the overarching theme The IQ Era, with programme strands including Networks Reinvented, AI in Action, Autonomous Enterprise, AI of Tomorrow, Trust at Scale and The Next Era. 4YFN and the GLOMO awards return.
The GSMA reported more than 105,000 attendees from 207 countries and territories at the 2026 event, along with more than 2,900 exhibitors, sponsors and partners and over 2,600 journalists and analysts. It billed the 2026 show as the 20th anniversary edition in Barcelona.
Barcelona hotels fill early and prices rise sharply around MWC week, which affects build crews as well as stand teams. Demonstrations that rely on wireless connectivity benefit from a wired backup, given how crowded the radio environment becomes.
